Prepared’s Custodian George Love Awards 34 College Scholarships To 11 St. Louis Public High Schools

Apr 30, 2019

On April 16th, 2019, Prepared: The Gateway of the Northwest awarded 34 $500 scholarships to 34 high school students throughout the St. Louis Public School District. This is the third time the Vashon High custodian and Prepared founder, George Love, and his wife, Stephanie, have awarded privately funded scholarships to SLPS students in the urban community.

The event was a resounding success. Thanks to generous donors, we were able to break our record by awarding 34 scholarships across 11 schools in the urban community. This is in contrast to Prepared’s 2017 & 2018 scholarship efforts, wherein George Love and his wife, Stephanie, awarded four $500 scholarships to Vashon High School seniors (four student honorees in 2017 as well as in 2018).

The rapid growth of the Dorothy May Walker-Love High-Five Scholarship program over the past 3 years is a testament to the faith of private donors as well as the impact of our scholarship fund.

Going forward, Prepared will continue to use our scholarships to incentivize academic & behavioral improvement throughout the St. Louis Public School District.

If you’d like to contribute to next year’s scholarship fund, please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign. The effect our program has on the confidence and motivation of disadvantaged students is enormous. They need to know they’re worth it, and you can help prove they are.
