Classroom Attendance
Throughout St. Louis Public School System

One Snack At A Time:
In March 2015, Prepared the Gateway of the Northwest adopted over a dozen public schools throughout the St. Louis Public School district. CEO & Founder, George Love, while performing custodial duties at one of the schools, noticed classroom attendance wasn’t as high as it could be. Teachers were overextending themselves in an attempt to keep students engaged and classroom attendance high.
In response, Mr. Love adopted 18 public schools in the SLPS. His plan was straightforward:
Donate snacks and juices for teachers to use as incentives for school attendance.
It worked! After the initial test run, a Vashon High School teacher reported that attendance rates increased by 4 points.
While that may be a small gain, it demonstrated that Prepared can leverage incentive-based donations to help students succeed. Since then, Prepared has launched a bigger program that offers
$500 scholarships to qualified students.
